
Warriors Earn First KCAC Win of the Season
FREMONT, Neb. – Angel Ioane Kaio threw five touchdown passes as Midland University defeated the University of Saint Mary, 34-6, in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) action Wednesday night at Heedum Field.
Midland struck early, scoring twice in the first quarter. Ioane Kaio connected with Allaya Livingston for a 42-yard touchdown and later found Olivia Dominguez-Millsop for an 8-yard score, giving the Warriors a 14-0 lead.
The Warriors added three more touchdowns in the second quarter. Ioane Kaio hit Dominguez-Millsop on an 11-yard pass, connected with Kobe Jay for a 7-yard score, and delivered a 16-yard strike to Morgan Kalisek, pushing Midland's lead to 34-0 at halftime.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. The lone score of the fourth came on a 37-yard pass from Saint Mary's Anayah Hooks to Brooklyn Hill.
With the win, Midland improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in KCAC play, while Saint Mary dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in conference action.
Ioane Kaio finished 24-of-48 passing for 291 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. Livingston caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Dominguez-Millsop recorded two interceptions, while Nadiya Simpson led the Warriors with five tackles.
Midland will travel to Fulton, Missouri, for four games this weekend. The Warriors face William Woods on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by Hesston College at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Midland plays Bryant & Stratton at 10:30 a.m. and Campbellsville at 4:30 p.m.
The Warriors return to Heedum Field on Tuesday, March 18, to host Kansas Wesleyan, with action beginning at 6 p.m.
