
Warriors Wrap up Fall at Greater Midwest Super Shoot; Earn Team H.O.A.
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Enduring frigid temperatures and wind gusts, Midland University took part in the ACUI Greater Midwest Super Shoot over the weekend. The Warriors had one of their best outings of the fall as they won the team H.O.A. (high overall) award and had eight shooters in their respective individual H.O.A. top ten.
In American Skeet, Midland tied with Fort Hays State with a team score of 482 but it was the Tigers taking the top spot via a 9-7 tiebreaker. Adin Doll (98), Mason Andelin (97), Kassy Gonzalez (96), Amy Cawley (96), and Devin Huguenot (95) were the top shooters for the Warriors.
Midland won the team title in American Trap. The team of Grayson Stuart (95), Atley Painter (94), Tucker Engelmann (92), Alex Voyles (920, and Samantha Nelson (92) combined for the victory. They had a score of 458 to edge out Simpson who had a team score of 440.
The Warriors added a second-place finish in Doubles American Skeet. Audric Scheidel and Doll led the way with scores of 48 while Cawley shot a 47 followed by Chase Carrere and William Eklund, who each had scores of 46. FHSU won the event with a score of 239, just four targets better than MU's 235.
In Sporting Clays, Midland returned the favor with a one-point win over Fort Hays State. The Warriors' group consisted of Cole Kennedy (88), Ben Swanson (86), Jack Munger (86), Dalton Blaha (85), and Andelin (85). They had a score of 430, besting the Tigers by one target.
It was another tight race in Super Sporting Clays as Midland, Simpson, and Fort Hays State finished within four targets of one another. FHSU had a 222 while Simpson had a score of 224. Midland won the event with a 226. Swanson (46), Andelin (46), Kennedy (45), Munger (45), and Devin Huguenot (44) were the top shooters for the Warriors.
Midland finishes the fall semester with two wins and a pair of runner-up finishes through its six-event schedule.
