Warriors Complete Season-Opening Weekend at Viking Challenge

DES MOINES, Iowa — Midland University traveled to Des Moines on Sunday afternoon to compete in the Viking Challenge Duals. The Warriors split the duals and secured third place in the overall standings.

In the first round of the duals, Midland faced Baker University. The Warriors earned a score of 81.9, while the Wildcats scored 65.08.

In the second round, Midland took on St. Ambrose University, improving their score to 83.2 — an increase of 1.3 points from their first round. The Fighting Bees posted the highest score of the day with 92.95.

"Today our motto was, 'You can do hard things.' Three performances in two days made for a tough weekend opener, but I am very happy with how hard the team pushed and their ability to bring so much energy to the mat each time," said head coach Kayla Rojas. "They are such a fun and driven group — it's only up from here!"

Midland will take a two-week break before traveling to Orange City, Iowa, for the Northwestern Invite on Feb. 14-15.
