Warriors Battle but Fall Short in Twin Bill Against (RV) Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Midland University continued its four-game series against (RV) Keiser University with a doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The Warriors dropped both games, falling 6-5 in a walk-off loss in game one before dropping game two, 5-2.

GAME ONE: Keiser 6, Midland 5

Jacob Liquori led off with a home run, giving Midland an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

After a quiet 2nd, the Warriors added to their lead in the 3rd. Brody Boyle drew a walk and stole both second and third base. Liquori also walked, putting runners on the corners. A sacrifice fly by Joshua Hardamon brought Boyle home, extending Midland's lead to 2-0.

Keiser responded in the bottom of the 3rd with a two-out home run to right field. The Seahawks then tied the game in the 5th after two hit batters and an RBI single.

Midland regained the lead in the 6th when Liquori led off with a single, advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt, and reached third on a Keiser error. Hardamon followed with a home run to left-center, putting the Warriors up 4-2.

The Seahawks answered in the bottom half, capitalizing on a throwing error and an RBI double to put two runners in scoring position. A single and another throwing error allowed both runners to score, tying the game at 4-4.

In the 7th, Anthony Martinez singled and advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt. Boyle then delivered an RBI single, putting Midland back in front, 5-4.

Keiser had the final say in the bottom of the inning. After a hit batter and a single, back-to-back RBI singles lifted the Seahawks to a walk-off 6-5 victory.

Statistical Standouts

GAME TWO: Keiser 5, Midland 2

After a scoreless opening inning, Keiser struck in the 2nd, using a pair of walks and a wild pitch to put runners on the corners. A single drove in the first run of the game.

The Seahawks added to their lead in the 3rd with a leadoff double and back-to-back singles. A sacrifice fly plated another run, extending the lead to 3-0.

Keiser tacked on another run in the 4th. A single, a groundout, and a wild pitch moved a runner to third, and a sacrifice fly pushed the lead to 4-0.

Midland ended its scoring drought in the 5th. Eimir Perez drew a walk, and back-to-back singles loaded the bases. A single by Dax Wandler drove in Sandstrom, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

The Warriors chipped away in the 6th when Hardamon singled, stole second, and scored on Perez's RBI single, making it 4-2.

Keiser answered in the 7th, using a walk and a single to add an insurance run for a 5-2 advantage.

The Seahawks held Midland scoreless in the final two innings to secure the win.

Midland (2-12) will look to bounce back in the series finale on Saturday. First pitch against (RV) Keiser (12-0) is set for 10 a.m. CST.
