
Warriors Wrap up Texas Road Trip with Pair of Losses
FORT WORTH, Texas – Midland University wrapped up its two-day trip to Texas with a nonconference doubleheader against Houston-Victoria on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors struggled to find their rhythm, dropping both games—11-4 in the opener and 16-2 in the nightcap.
GAME ONE: Houston-Victoria 11, Midland 4
The Jaguars took an early lead, scoring in the first and third innings to go up 3-0.
Midland responded in the bottom of the third. Kobe Sandstrom drew a walk, and Eimir Perez was hit by a pitch. A failed pickoff attempt advanced both runners into scoring position. Sandstrom then crossed home plate on an error, while Perez followed on a balk, putting the Warriors on the board.
After a scoreless fourth, Houston-Victoria broke the game open in the fifth with three hits and five runs, extending its lead to 8-2.
Perez launched a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to cut into the deficit.
Following another scoreless inning, the Jaguars delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, stretching their lead to 11-3.
Midland's Brody Boyle answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Houston-Victoria secured an 11-4 victory in the opener.

GAME TWO: Houston-Victoria 16, Midland 2
After three scoreless innings, Houston-Victoria struck first, posting five runs in the fourth to take control. The Jaguars stayed hot, adding three more in the fifth to extend their lead to 8-0.
Midland broke through in the top of the sixth. Sotero Ureno doubled to left field, and courtesy runner Fish advanced on a wild pitch. Perez drew a walk, putting runners on the corners. Alec Villanueva then delivered an RBI single to bring Fish home, followed by a Joshua Hardamon double that scored Perez, making it 8-2.
The Jaguars quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning, recording four hits—including a home run—to push their lead to 16-2.
A scoreless final inning sealed Midland's fate, as the Warriors fell 16-2 in game two.
