No. 5 Warriors Bounce Back with Rout of No. 13 Lindenwood

O'FALLON, Ill. – Following a tough loss in the Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) quarterfinals, No. 5 Midland University faced No. 13 Lindenwood University in a consolation game. The Warriors routed the Lions, 8-1.

Darbi Poole opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first period. Makenna Larson picked up the assist as the Warriors took a narrow lead into the intermission.

In the second, Rylee Martin quickly doubled the advantage, pushing the puck past the goalie in the opening minute. Three minutes later, Brooke Barylski added to the scoresheet with an unassisted goal at 3:27.

Midland tacked on two more goals before the final break. At 12:02, Callie Maguire scored off an assist from Makara Magbanua and Larson. Two minutes later, Larson found the back of the net off a feed from Katie McNair at 14:48.

The Warriors and Lions played evenly through the early part of the third. At the midway point, Martin capitalized on a power play, scoring off assists from Poole and Maguire. Another quick penalty by Lindenwood set up Midland once more, with Larson scoring off assists from McNair and Jaicee Huberdeau. The Warriors' final goal came at 12:18 when Huberdeau found the net off an assist from Sydni Richards.

Lindenwood avoided the shutout with a power-play goal at 5:39.

Natalie Rampton earned the win in net for Midland, making 21 saves. The Warriors outshot the Lions 46-22.

Midland (26-8) will return home to begin preparations for the ACHA Women's Division I National Championship. The tournament field will be announced next week.
