Warriors of the Week
Maci Avila
Maci Avila, a senior from Henderson Nevada, captured the conference championship in the 138 weight class and qualified for nationals at the GPAC championships over the weekend. Avila defeated Ari Hen (Waldorf) by fall at 1:56, then topped Lisa Hoeflich (Hastings) by technical fall, 10-0, at 1:51 in the semifinals. In the championship bout, Avila upset fourth-ranked Reagen Gallaway (Hastings) by decision, 8-4.
Kaeden White
On Friday, seven Midland bowlers participated in the ISC Sectionals, where the top eight finishers earned spots at nationals. After six games, Kaeden White secured one of those spots, finishing tied for third out of 195 participants with a total pinfall of 1,371 for a 228.5 average. White opened with a 206 before heating up over the next three games with scores of 277, 246 and 259. He closed with games of 190 and 193 to earn his spot at nationals.
