Bio
Grandee West, '81, participated in football and track from 1976-80 at Midland. As a wide receiver for Head Coach Don Watchorn, West established a school record for receiving yards in a career with 1,548 yards. As a member of the 1979 Warrior football team that reached the NAIA Quarterfinals, West earned All-Conference and All-Nebraska honors. During the 1979 season, West set a school record for receiving yards in a season with 652 yards and he averaged 19.8 yards per reception. He also scored 4 touchdowns. For three years, West also participated in Track and Field at MLC. At the 1978 NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet, West earned NAIA All-America honors in the 60-yard high hurdles, setting an MLC record with a time of 7.38. West also holds the school record in the 300-yard run (:31.94). In Outdoor Track and Field, West holds the school record for the 110-meter high hurdles (:14.1). West is currently a teacher in Chicago, IL. Grandee West is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding athletic achievements.
