Bio
In over two decades as head football coach at Midland Lutheran College, Don Watchorn made a name for himself as one of the finest coaches in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). A 1950 graduate of Midland and a former Midland football player, Don became head football coach and athletic director of the College in 1971. In the next 21 years that followed, he guided Midland's athletic programs to new levels of excellence. Under his skilled leadership, the Warriors won a multitude of conference championships and were nationally ranked during many seasons. A highlight of his career occurred in 1974 when he coached the Warrior football team to an undefeated season which climaxed with a victory against Friends University in the Mineral Water Bowl. Don retired in the spring of 1992 as the winningest football coach in Midland College history. He is inducted into the Midland Warrior Atheltic Hall of Fame in recognition of his many years of tremendous leadership and dedicated service to Midland College athletics.
