Bio
Pam Schmidt Thies, '83, lettered all four years of her Midland Lutheran College track and field career. She was the college's first NAIA National Champion in discus in 1981. She was the NIAC Champion three times and NAIA District XI Champion twice. She currently holds the MLC record in discus. Thies earned All-American honors in 1981, and Academic All-American honors in 1982 and 1983. She also set the college's indoor shot put record, outdoor shot put record, and NAIA discus record. Thies played basketball at MLC and the team made it to the regional finals two consecutive years. She lives in Randolph and teaches health and physical education at Laurel-Concord Public Schools. Thies is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for her amazing athletic accomplishments.
