Bio
The 2003 Midland Women’s Softball Team established itself as one of the outstanding softball teams in the Midwest. As a team, Midland Softball recorded an overall record of 39-15-1 and a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) record of 18-4. They were crowned GPAC Regular Season Champions, GPAC Tournament Champions, and NAIA Region IV Tournament Champions. 2003 marked the first-ever appearance of Midland Softball in the NAIA National Softball Championship Tournament. In the GPAC and Region IV Tournaments, Midland Softball outscored their opponents 52-6 and produced a perfect 7-0 record. For the season, a total of 23 school records were established, including 18 individual season and career records and five team records- wins (39), consecutive wins (16), strikeouts by pitchers (294), ERA (2.10), and shutouts (15). A total of five players earned post-season honors, including three First Team All-Conference players, one Second Team All-Conference player, and one Honorable Mention All-Conference player. Midland was also represented on the All-Conference Team with the GPAC Player of the Year award, GPAC Pitcher of the Year, and GPAC Coach of the Year. Three players earned All-Region honors, two players earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors, and three players earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. The 2003 Midland Women’s Softball Team is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for outstanding athletic accomplishments.
