For outstanding achievements in athletics, coaching, and teaching, Frank Smagacz is renowned for his 34 years as an accomplished and veteran high school Nebraska coach. Illustrious 10 varsity letter winner at Midland in football, basketball, and track and builder of youth athletes, he received Little All-American honors and was a three-year all-conference in football and basketball. Recognized as Omaha Coach of the Year in 1960, his other outstanding achievements include all-military service football and baseball competitor, coach of Class "A" track and football state championships in one year, and dedication to youth athletics.
