Bio
Todd M. Shanks, '85, played basketball during his tenure at Midland Lutheran College. He set Midland's single-season scoring record of 706 points, a record he held until 1989. He is the 11th all-time scorer in Midland history and still holds the school record for scoring average in a career (22.4 PPG). He was the NAIA District II leading scorer his senior year (24.3 PPG). Other career stats include 52.4% field goals, 73.7% free throws, and a total of 1,254 points. He was named to the following teams: NIAC All-Conference, NIAC All-Star, NAIA All-District, All-NAIA District II, All-Conference, and All-State. Shanks was also named the NAIA District II Men's Player of the Week and received NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. Following graduation, he played a year of semi-professional basketball in Denmark, averaging 50 points per game. The team earned first place in its division. Shanks is a deputy with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office in Portland, Oregon. He is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding athletic and professional accomplishments.
