Bio
Robert E. Rump, '56, an all-around athlete, competed at the intercollegiate level in basketball, tennis, and football, earning letters in all three sports at Midland. In tennis, Bob advanced the team to four straight Nebraska College Conference (NCC) Championships. He also was NCC Doubles Champion for three years. Bob was second in team scoring during the 1949-50 basketball season. He left Midland and spent four years in the United States Air Force, returning to Midland and achieving fourth place in team scoring in 1955-56. A member of Phi Epsilon Kappa. the national physical education fraternity, Bob was a candidate for the Petrow Memorial Award. Since his graduation, he has been a teacher and coach for more than 30 years and has received several coaching awards including two "Coach of the Year" honors from the California Coaches Association. He is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his excellence as a Midland athlete and his career success as a teacher and coach.
