Bio
Dr. Irvin L. Peterson, '40, distinguished teacher, coach, and athlete, enters the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame by virtue of his outstanding accomplishments as a student-athlete and his achievements as a university professor and coach. Dr. Peterson was the head basketball coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University for 30 years and was head baseball coach there for 20 years. He played professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals organization and was a player-manager for many years with semi-professional baseball teams. He is an expert in the field of special education with many publications to his credit. He has received numerous honors for his work both in athletics and in the field of special education and was the winningest active coach in the NCAA Division III. He has studied at Harvard University, and Kansas University, and earned a Ph. D. at Oklahoma College. He embodies the values of Midland Lutheran College and the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame.
