Bio
Gerald Meyer, “Moose”, ’38, was a well-rounded athlete who played football, basketball, and baseball while at Midland. He played semi-pro baseball following graduation. Coaching was a big part of his career before and after his stint in the Navy during World War II. He came to Fremont High as a coach, assistant principal, and math teacher in 1946. He served the Fremont School system as principal and assistant superintendent from 1951 until his retirement in 1982. Gerald’s community involvement as Kiwanis President, and on the board of directors for the Salvation Army, YMCA, the Fremont Rod and Gun Club, and Salem Lutheran Church, demonstrates Jerry’s commitment to serving others. His name is recognized throughout Fremont as a leader in all facets of community life.
