Bio
For the past 26 years, Jim McMahon has been coaching at the collegiate level. He began his career at Midland Lutheran College in 1978, teaching physical education and coaching cross country and indoor and outdoor track. During his tenure at Midland, he has had many accomplishments. In cross country, his teams have won 16 NIAC Team Championships as well as 8 District 11 Team Championships. Jim was named Area 3 Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year one time and District 11 Cross Country Coach of the Year eight times. In track and field, Jim’s teams have won 34 NIAC Team Championships and 13 District 11 Championships. He was named the Area 3 Women’s Track Coach of the Year four times. He was named District 11 Coach of the Year for Indoor Track one time and District 11 Coach of the Year for Outdoor Track five times. In 1989, he was named NAIA National Coach of the Year for Women’s Indoor Track and, in the same year, his women’s team won the NAIA Indoor National Championship. Jim is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding achievement in educating and coaching at Midland Lutheran College.
