Bio
Janelle Sager Lorsch, '04, was an outstanding athlete in the sports of volleyball and softball from 2000-2004. In volleyball, Janelle earned 1st Team GPAC honors in 2002 and 2nd Team GPAC honors in 2003 as a Middle Blocker. She ranks 3rd all-time in Midland history with 1,267 kills and with 226 solo blocks. She also recorded 559 total blocks and 302 digs for her career. In softball, Janelle earned Honorable Mention GPAC honors in 2003 and 1st Team GPAC honors in 2004 as a catcher. In 2004, she was named NAIA 2nd Team All-American. She recorded 16 home runs and 69 RBI, both Midland single-season records. For her career, she hit .344 and had a .551 slugging percentage. She totaled 97 runs, 31 doubles, 8 triples, 22 home runs, 132 RBI, and 302 total bases. She also holds the all-time Midland record with a .986 fielding percentage. Janelle helped guide Midland to back-to-back GPAC Championships in 2003 and 2004 and to Midland's first-ever berth into the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 2003. She was named NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Janelle graduated from Midland in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in English Education. She received the prestigious Prauner Award at graduation, Midland's highest honor. She earned her Master's Degree from Wayne State College in Curriculum and Instruction in 2008. Janelle has been teaching grades 7-12 language arts at Arlington High School since 2007. She is also the Head Softball Coach at Arlington and guided her team to the Class C NSAA State Championship in 2012. Janelle and her husband, Jason, live in Kennard and have two daughters - Jensen and June. Janelle Sager Lorsch is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for her outstanding athletic accomplishments.
