Coach Karl Lawrence led his Warrior basketball team of “Merry Magicians” to unprecedented success.  Between the years of 1930 and 1935, he served as athletic director and head coach of all sports at Midland and established a reputation for athletic success, good sportsmanship, and gentlemanly values that remain as standards today.  His achievements as a coach and teacher have been recognized nationwide, and he has the distinction of being included in the Halls of Fame of Colgate University, Concordia College-Moorhead, Allegheny College, as well as Midland.  Perhaps the most enduring tribute to his abilities as a coach is the number of students he coached who are now, themselves, members of the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame.
