Bio

Doug Lanik, '80, participated in football and baseball while at Midland Lutheran College. In football, he played on three Conference Championship teams (1976, 1977, 1979) and the 1979 team was the first team in the college's history to qualify for the national playoff. That team finished the season ranked fifth in the NAIA. Lanik was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starting quarterback. As a junior and senior, Lanik was selected as team co-captain and was selected MVP at the conclusion of the 1979 season. He earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in 1977 and 1978 and First Team All-Conference honors in 1979. He was named Second Team All-State in 1979 by the Omaha World-Herald. Lanik is ranked 11th on the MLC all-time passing charts with 1,204 yards. In baseball, Lanik was the starting centerfielder and led the team in stolen bases. The team qualified for the District XI playoffs in 1977. He is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding athletic achievements.
