Bio

Famed fleet halfback of the late 1920s, Martin Koolen, tabbed “The Flying Dutchman,” established 11 school football records and set two all-time records for most points scored in a game (36) and most touchdowns in a single game (6).  Respected scholar, athlete, and student leader, he served with distinction on the board of trustees of the College and was its chairman for several years.  An honored high school coach in Nebraska and Colorado, he later joined Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1969.  Community service was highlighted by the board chairmanship of the school for mentally handicapped children in Billings, Montana.
