Bio
Shelly Ann Downer Koehler, '85, was a standout in cross country and track and field while at Midland. In cross country, Koehler was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a two-time All-District performer, and a two-time All-Conference performer. As a member of the MLC Indoor Track and Field team, Koehler was a three-time NAIA All-American. She was a member of the Distance Medley Relay Team that captured a gold medal at the NAIA National Indoor Championship Meet in 1984 and 1985, establishing an NAIA record. At MLC, Koehler ranks in the top 10 all-time in the 600 yards (8th), 880 yards (5th), 1,000 yards (5th), and the mile run (7th). As a member of the two-mile relay team, she helped MLC to three top 10 times. As a member of the distance medley relay team, she helped MLC to two top 10 times. She earned Indoor All-Conference honors eight times and Indoor All-District honors seven times. In Outdoor Track and Field, Koehler ranks 4th all-time at MLC in the 1500-meter run, 5th all-time in the 3200 relay, and 2nd all-time in the distance medley relay. Overall in Track and Field, Koehler earned NAIA Sholar Athlete honors three times. She is the owner of Heartland Physical Therapy in Norfolk, NE. Shelly Ann Downer Koehler is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for her outstanding athletic accomplishments.
