Cheryl Klug, '76, was a member of the Midland Lutheran College Warrior basketball and softball teams. The 1974-75 Warriorettes basketball team placed second in the state tournament. She was a starting pitcher on the softball squad. The 1973 team entered the state tournament unseeded, but a victory over UNL and an upset over Wayne State tate took them to second place in the final standings. Cheryl continued her love of playing softball for five years following graduation. She then turned her interest to umpiring. She has umpired nine Women's College World Series and two international softball events and received the 1993 Umpire Award for Excellence for Region 12 from the Amateur Softball Association. In June 1996, Cheryl was inducted into the Umpire Hall of Fame presented by the Omaha Softball Association. Currently, she is the owner/operator of a food service company in Omaha.
