Bio

Amber Anderson Howell, '93, participated in cross country and track while at Midland. In cross country, Howell was named NAIA All-America in 1988, '89, and '91, finishing the championship race in 6th place in '88, 2nd place in '89, and 9th place in '91. She earned NAIA Scholar All-America honors in cross country in '90 and '91 and in track in '91 and '92. Howell was crowned conference and district champion a total of 14 times during her track career. In addition, she was a five-time NAIA national champion and she earned NAIA All-America honors on 14 different occasions. Howell still holds the NAIA record in the marathon, posting a time of 2:49:14 in 1992. She currently holds the MLC indoor record in the 3-mile run, 5000 meter run, 2-mile relay, and distance medley relay. Howell also holds the MLC outdoor record in the 1000-meter run, the half-marathon, the marathon, and the 6400-meter relay. She is employed with ConAgra Foods in Omaha. Howell is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for her outstanding athletic accomplishments.
