Bio
John C. Gumb, ’71, excelled in both football and track while at Midland. John received many athletic honors while he was a student. In 1971, John set a school record in the 100-yard dash and was the All-Tri-State Conference Champion in this event. In football, he was named All-Conference defensive back two years and All Tri-State Conference offensive player one year. John was Captain of the football team in 1970 and was chosen as the Petrow Memorial Award recipient in 1971. Since graduating from Midland, he has served in the coaching profession for over 20 years. He has spent the last 17 years coaching at McCook High School where the track teams have finished in the top 10 at the state meet for seven consecutive years. John is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his tremendous accomplishments in Warrior athletics.
