Bio
Wayne A. “Mud” Gardner, ’34, transferred to Midland for his senior year of college. He was a starting guard for the basketball team, a starting running back and quarterback for the football team, and also participated in softball. For the past 62 years, Wayne has been a volleyball referee in the United States. In 1982, he received the “Leader in Volleyball” Award from the United States Volleyball Association (USVBA), and in 1985, he was presented the “Doc” Booth Award from the USVBA for outstanding service to sports. Wayne is currently teaching reflexology at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, a sister college of Midland. He is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding effort in the area of athletics at Midland College and throughout his career.
