The 1979 NAIA National Playoff Warrior Football Team ranked fifth in the final post-season rating. Midland finished the regular season with a 9-0 record and were crowned conference champions. Offensively, the team averaged 378.2 yards of total offense per game, including 288.7 yards rushing per game and 89.5 yards passing per game. Midland averaged 27.3 points per game. Defensively, the team allowed only 292.4 yards of total offense per game, including 133.0 yards rushing per game and 159.4 yards passing per game. Midland allowed an average of 16.2 points per game. Head Coach Don Watchorn, assistant coaches, and team members are praised for their achievements on and off the field, and for their special contributions to the athletic history of Midland Lutheran College.
