Winner of 13 varsity letters in football, basketball, track and tennis, Nebraska college conference tennis doubles champion for three years, Ron Donahue gained the coveted World Herald College Athlete of the Year Award as the Petrow Memorial Reward for outstanding all-around athlete in 1955. Marine Corps service, 1956-1959, saw him garnering individual championships in tennis and team championships in basketball. He played AAU basketball competitively in the early 1960s and competed in baseball and tennis through 1976. A master’s degree in 1968 from Michigan State led to many professional honors and awards.
