Bio

The scoring magic of Garnie Davis was one of the reasons the Warrior basketball teams of the early 1930s, known as “The Merry Magicians,” came into national prominence.  He centered a team that won four consecutive conference championships from 1931 to 1934.  In an era of low-scoring games, he set three personal records in his senior year.  He scored 32 field goals, 22 free throws, and 86 points to lead the conference.  He and his teammates scored 273 points while allowing only 112.  He was the conference scoring champion and also an All-Conference selection for three consecutive years.  As an alumnus, Garnet Davis succeeded in business, rising to responsible positions in the Quaker Oats Company.  He is honored both for his athletic achievements and for his success as a worthy representative of the Midland ideal.
