Bio
Dr. Charles "Max" Coe, '32, proved his ability not only in athletics but also in the study of biological sciences. A biology major and chemistry minor from Wakefield, Nebraska, he continued his education at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, both in Lincoln and Omaha, receiving his M.D. in 1936. Max dedicated his professional career to medicine and the medical treatment of others as a physician/surgeon until his retirement in 1989. During his years at Midland College, he lettered in three sports – football, basketball, and track. As a halfback, Max was a high scorer on the team and made the highest yardage average in the 1931-32 season. In basketball, he was instrumental on the 1931-32 team which won the championship of the Nebraska College Athletic Conference for the second consecutive year. In track, Max was one of two team members to place at the Hastings Relays, tying for third in the high jump at 5'9". Max is inducted into the Midland Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments as a student-athlete and his professional medical career.
