Bio
Steven P. Carlson, '83, was a two-sport athlete in football and track and field while at Midland. In football, Carlson started at quarterback in 1980 and 1981, rushing for a total of 548 years and 8 touchdowns. Through the air, Carlson passed for a total of 807 yards. In 1980, Carlson was named District Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks for leading Midland to victory over Concordia and Nebraska Wesleyan. Carlson participated in the shot put and discus in track and field, earning NAIA Scholar All-America honors in 1983. In the indoor shot put in 1983, Carlson helped guide MLC to a sweep of first, second, and third places at the conference championship meet. For indoor track, Carlson ranks 6th on the all-time MLC list in the shot put with a mark of 51'7". He ranks 8th on the all-time MLC list in the shot put with a distance of 51'3/4" and 5th on the all-time MLC list in the discus with a mark of 159'1" for outdoor track. He is self-employed as a Certified Public Accountant in Casper, Wyoming. Carlson is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding athletic accomplishments.
