Bio
As a college athlete, Axel Bundgaard earned letters in football, basketball and tennis. He helped author dramatic Midland victories leading to conference championships, catching last-minute passes, and executing an innovative, end-around play. An outstanding student-athlete, he earned his doctorate from the University of Iowa and pursued a distinguished coaching and administrative career at Wartburg College, South Dakota State University, and St. Olaf College. For over four decades, he served on select NCAA Committees and has been a distinguished contributor to the Philosophic Society for the Study of Sport and the North American Society for the Sport History. A churchman, author, scholar, and athlete, Axel Bundgaard represents Midland’s allegiance to academic and athletic achievement.
