Bio

Gary L. Blackwell, '64, played football and baseball at Midland Lutheran College, earning the Petrow Award in 1963. In football, he recorded six interceptions in 1960 and was captain of the team in 1962. He was named First Team All Tri-State Conference as a Defensive Safety and Offensive End. In 1961, MLC claimed the Tri-State Conference Football Championship. In baseball, Blackwell was the starting first baseman for Midland. In 1961 and 1963, MLC won the Tri-State Conference title. His career after college began when serving as an Aircraft Commander and Instructor Pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He is a Supervisor and Military Training Manager in Texas. Blackwell is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding athletic accomplishments.
