Bio
Led by Head Coach Rich McGill, the 1989-90 Men’s Basketball Team qualified for the NAIA Division 1 National Tournament in Kansas City, MO. The ’89-’90 Warriors produced a 17-15 overall record and they were 7-3 in the Nebraska Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC). It was during the NAIA District 11 playoffs that the Warriors hit their stride, producing wins over Chadron State, 113-108, and Hastings College, 97-77. In the District 11 championship game, MLC won a thriller, 107-104, over Bellevue College, earning their trip to the national tournament. As a team, the Warriors averaged 88 points per game and 33.5 rebounds per game for the season. They shot an impressive 45% overall from the floor. MLC scored 100 or more points during the course of the season on six different occasions, including three times in the post-season. In their three district tournament game victories, the Warriors averaged 106 points. The 1989-90 Men’s Basketball Team in inducted into the Warriors Athletic Hall of Fame for their outstanding athletic accomplishments.
