Bio

Ed Bales, ’52, was a Petrow Award winner and athletic standout in a number of sports.  He lettered in football and track during all four years of his Midland career and lettered in basketball one year.  He broke conference and school high jump records, was named captain of the football team his senior year, and was named to the coaches’ all-conference football team.  As a coach and teacher in Hawaii, he has led his basketball teams to a number of championships.  Ed has also participated in community service activities including a goodwill softball tour to the Orient, service to Little League, and participation on a community-wide education task force. For his service to others, his excellence as a Midland athlete, and his success as a teacher and coach, he is inducted into the Hall of Fame.
