Gene Kruger, ’49, has achieved success both on the playing field and in the business world. Gene was a letter winner in both basketball and track and won conference championships in a number of track events during his Midland career. As a coach with the Elkhorn schools, he was instrumental in starting the football program and led several teams to state championship playoffs in basketball. For his outstanding work as a coach, Gene was presented the Outstanding Service Award from both the Nebraska Coaches Association and the Nebraska Athletic Directors Association. He has now entered the business world and achieved considerable success as the owner and operator of “Big Red Scorebook Company.” He is an outstanding coach and athlete, and a worthy member of the Hall of Fame.
