Larry Fuerst, '55, participated in basketball, track & field, and baseball during his college career at Midland. Fuerst was a three-year letter winner in basketball and a two-year letter winner in track. As captain of the basketball team in 1955, he led the team in scoring and set a four-year scoring record with 904 points. Fuerst was named to the NCC All-Conference Team in his junior and senior years. He was the fourth leading scorer in the NCC his senior year. In track and field, Fuerst participated in sprints, relays, and the pole vault. In 1979, at age 45, he was the National AAU Decathlon Champion in track and field and set a world decathlon record in his age group. Fuerst is a retired Marketing Representative for IBM. He is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding athletic achievements.
